By downloading or using KaviNote (the "App"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App. Your use is also governed by Apple's standard App Store terms (Licensed Application End User License Agreement).
KaviNote is a note-taking, preparation, and reference tool. It transcribes speech on your device and matches it against notes you created, so you can find and read your own material quickly. It is in the same category as cue cards and teleprompters.
You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of the App complies with any rules, policies, agreements, or laws that apply to your situation — including employer policies, interview or examination rules, recording-consent laws in your jurisdiction, and confidentiality obligations. KaviNote does not record or store audio, but laws about listening devices vary by location; know yours.
Your notes are yours. They are stored on your device (and, if enabled by iOS, in your personal iCloud). We claim no ownership, we have no access to them, and we cannot recover them for you — keep your own backups of anything important.
Pro is sold via Apple's App Store as an in-app purchase. You authorize Apple to charge your payment method each billing period (monthly or yearly). You can cancel any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → KaviNote. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Refunds are handled by Apple per their standard policy.
The free tier includes: unlimited Personal notes, 1 Professional note, 3 library packs, 30 minutes of listening per day, and 100 matched questions per week. These limits are reset daily/weekly and are intended to let you try the app without requiring a subscription. Circumventing these limits (e.g., via jailbreaking or reverse-engineering) violates this agreement.
KaviNote's matching is based on semantic similarity and keyword matching. It is not perfect. We don't guarantee that the app will find every answer, find the right answer, or never scroll to the wrong place. We provide KaviNote "as is." We aim to fix bugs and improve matching, but we make no warranty that the app will always work perfectly.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KaviNote and its creators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or data loss, even if we've been told the possibility of such damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the last 12 months (or $1, whichever is greater).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KaviNote and its creators from any claims, damages, or costs arising from your use of the App, your content, or your violation of these terms — including legal fees.
We may update these terms at any time. We'll post changes here with an updated "Effective" date. Your continued use of the App after changes means you accept them. If a change is material and we believe you should be aware, we'll notify you in the app on next launch.
We may suspend or terminate your access to KaviNote if you violate these terms or engage in harmful or illegal activity. If we do, we'll try to notify you, but we're not obligated to.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of California. If you have a dispute with us, try to contact [email protected] first — we want to work it out.
